Privacy Policy

Compass is a personal productivity planner. It is local-first: your data stays in your browser by default and only leaves your device if you choose to turn on Sync. We don't sell your data or use it for advertising.
Who we are
Compass is an independent productivity app available at compassplanner.app. For any privacy questions, contact us at hello@compassplanner.app.
What data we handle
- Your content — the tasks, objectives, weekly reflections and thoughts you create. By default this is stored only in your browser (localStorage) on the device you use. Nothing is sent to us unless you enable Sync.
- Account information — if you sign in, we store your email address to identify your account. If you sign in with Google, we receive your email address and basic profile information (such as your name) from Google, used only to sign you in. We do not access your Google contacts, files, calendar, or any other Google data.
- Synced content — if you turn on Sync, your planner content is stored in our database, linked to your account, so you can access it across devices.
How we use your data
We use it solely to provide the app: to sign you in and to store and sync your own content. We do not use your data for advertising, we do not sell it, and we do not share it with third parties except the infrastructure providers below that make the service run.
Service providers
- Vercel — hosts the website and app.
- Supabase — handles sign-in and, if you enable Sync, stores your content.
- Google — only if you choose "Continue with Google", and only to authenticate you.
Data retention and deletion
Data kept on your device stays until you clear it — you can remove it any time with "Reset all data" in Settings, and signing out clears the data from that device. If you have enabled Sync and want your account and stored content permanently deleted, email us at hello@compassplanner.app and we will delete it.
Security
Data is transmitted over encrypted connections (HTTPS), and synced content is protected so that only your authenticated account can read or write it. No method of storage or transmission is 100% secure, but we take reasonable measures to protect your information.
Children
Compass is not directed at children under 13, and we do not knowingly collect data from them.
Changes to this policy
We may update this policy from time to time. Any changes will be posted on this page with an updated date above.
